Our

Services

MHAMH will offer a variety of researched and evidenced based educational skills developed to retrain your brain. We will provide you the knowledge behind the skills and the ability to apply them. We will offer therapy groups to attend following the program while you wait to be connected to an outpatient program in the city. The program will connect you to community resources best tailored to your needs.

Psychoeducational Skills Groups

Our skills groups are designed to focus on numerous areas of everyday struggle. Clients in our program will work through topics like Insight Into Wellness, a collection of life skills everyone needs but typically struggle with. Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT) will help you make the connections between your thoughts, feelings/emotions and behaviors. Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) will help you learn the balance between acceptance and change. Interpersonal Relationships will help you build stronger relationships with the people in your lives. Discharge Planning will prepare you for your life after our program.

Case Management & Psychiatry

MHAMH runs a case management model that supports not just the hospital to community system but the rehab and nursing models as well. Clients joining our program will be connected to a case manager and see them once a week. Our case managers are mental health therapist from the nursing and social work disciplines.  All of our case managers are regulated professionals under the Professions Act. They all carry active licensure in good standing with their governing bodies. Clients with MHAMH will have the opportunity to be connected to a psychiatrist while they attend the groups package of the program. This will help us determine if you need to attend the therapy groups following completion of our psychoeducational skills groups.

Psychodynamic Therapy Groups

Once you complete the skills groups you may need further care. This won't be for every client. If you have a connection with an outpatient clinic that starts when you complete the skills groups then you would move on. If not we may want to discuss putting you in our therapy group sessions.

Connection to Community Services

Mental health isn't just about therapy and skills. It's also about distraction and connection. MHAMH wants to provide our clients with a well rounded program. We connect our clients to our outreach worker to find community resources that may be helpful following completion of our program. Spend time with our Outreach worker to determine what might best suit you. What programs, if any, should be in place?

Join others from the program as we explore services in the city. Perhaps and educational resource like the city library or Telus Spark Centre. Maybe something fun like the zoo, bowling or mini putt.

Trauma Therapy

MHAMH will help you understanding, processing and releasing your traumas using Accelerated Resolution Therapy and other methods while working with a trauma informed team.

Psychiatric Follow-up

Clients in our program can continue to follow-up with a psychiatrist if needed post completing the program.
